What iHouse residents do

We love and carry out international development! Here's we do through iHouse:

  • Attend a freshman 6 unit seminar on international development in the first semester*
  • Participate in or help develop an international development project over your four years*
  • Monthly attend an iHouse speaker series where we bring in international development experts*
  • Take 2 international development classes while at MIT (ask us what we've taken!)*
  • Historically we have had two retreats a year and have hour housing and ID meetings 3 out of 4 weeks.
  • Come to monthy social events and parties!
  • *Required by MIT as living in iHouse earns academic credit towards an ID minor.
This should sound awesome! - because it is. So if you think this sounds like what you would like at MIT then...

    Apply to live in iHouse!

iHouse accepts both prefrosh and upperclassmen. Here's the process to apply:

    1. We first ask you to complete a brief set of questions just to get to know you better (link below). We are looking for genuine interest. We welcome residents regardless of their previous work in international development.
    2. Then we will get in touch with you shortly by skype, phone, etc. to talk with you, give you a chance to know us, and make sure iHouse would be a great place for you!
    3. For prefrosh: Be sure to mark iHouse in one of your top four choices on the MIT housing form. MIT housing has us select the final residents in late June; MIT Housing will tell you your housing assignment when the freshman lottery results are published in July.
For upperclassmen: Come talk to us! We'd love to have you visit. If there is an open space in iHouse, we can ask housing to put you on the list to move in during one of the lotteries.

So now start the application online!

    Have questions?

We would love to answer them! You are welcome to email us at ihouse-residents@mit.edu. If you are around Cambridge, you can come talk to us too. Lastly, please consider checking our FAQ page.

You can also have fun exploring by reading our blogs. Some of them discuss some of the projects and others are just for fun. There you can also see past i3 videos!

So we look forward to getting to know you!
